PIA MELLODY
Pia Mellody is the senior clinical advisor for The Mellody House. She is widely known as one of the foremost authorities in the fields of addiction and relationships. Her work on codependence, boundaries, and the effects of childhood trauma on emotional development has profoundly influenced the treatment of addictions and the issues of forming and maintaining relationships.
She is the author of several influential books, including “Facing Codependence,” “Facing Love Addiction” and her latest work, “The Intimacy Factor.”
MAUREEN CANNING, MA, LMFT
Maureen Canning, clinical director for The Mellody House, has extensive experience working with sexual disorders. She is a past board member of the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health, as well as past president of the Arizona Council on Sexual Addiction.
Maureen is an internationally recognized lecturer in the fields of sexual addiction and trauma. Her clinical experience includes individual, couples and family counseling, workshops, educational training and interventions. She is a level II EMDR-trained therapist and a certified hypnotherapist. In addition, Maureen is the author of “Lust, Anger, Love: Understanding Sexual Addiction” and “The Road to Healthy Intimacy.”
PETER A. LEVINE, PHD
Peter A. Levine, clinical consultant for The Mellody House and is the developer of ”Somatic Experiencing,” a short-term naturalistic approach to the resolution and healing of trauma. Dr. Levine leads trainings in this approach throughout the world.
Dr. Levine was a stress consultant for NASA in the development of the space shuttle and is the author of the best-selling book,”Waking the Tiger: Healing Trauma,” as well as three audio learning series including,”Sounds True: Healing Trauma: A Pioneering Program for Restoring the Wisdom of Your Body,””It Won’t Hurt Forever: Guiding Your Child Through Trauma” and”Sexual Healing: Transforming the Sacred Wound.”
